The “New normal” in our living room restaurant

Due to the current Corona situation, our “Sundaykitchen” living room restaurant will remain closed until further notice. However, we are already thinking about the time afterwards. Below is an insight into the planned concept.

The concept of the “Sunday Kitchen” was that a random company of 3-10 people from all walks of life would meet at a long table: students and pensioners, social workers and investment bankers, professors and working class heroes, life artists with mini-jobs and members of the Executive Board, members from left-wing and right wing parties. What they all had in common was the appreciation for decent food in good company, a relaxed attitude towards the ups and downs of life, an interest in new and different things and the ability and the will to enjoy the moment. The sole linking element was us as we needed to know them in advance for meeting the regulatory requirement of a “non-public” event.

In times of Corona, the meeting of a randomly selected group of ten people is no longer appropriate. Therefore, as soon as the Corona situation allows it, we will only hold events with groups of 4-6 people who not only know us but also each other beforehand, register together and adhere to the Corona Protection Concept below.

The good in the bad is the possibility that this concept allows us to adhere better to the wishes of the guests and offer a choice of different menus. For logistical reasons, however, the group should agree on one choice of aperitif, starter, main course, dessert and wine each. We can also put together a menu or advise you on the choice of wine.

The costs are CHF 60 (non-alcoholic CHF 50) per person including aperitif, wine, mineral water and coffee / tea. We always offer a vegetarian option and are happy to take into account any intolerances or allergies, but please let us know when you register.

Music

Apart from good food we also like good music, so we created a spotify playlist with background music (here on spotify). There are, however, also guests who find this disturbing, so we follow the wishes of those present at the event.

Corona protection concept

This is a private event on a small scale, which is why we always rely on personal responsibility with regard to Corona. Please note the following:

  • No participation in case of illness symptoms (such as fever or cold symptoms): Cancellations (even at short notice) are not a problem but desired
  • Guests are requested to disinfect their hands upon arrival
  • The guests are all personally known to each other, so that it is their own responsibility to keep an appropriate distance between them
  • We try to keep the minimum distances to the guests, but we will not always be able to keep this (e.g. when serving or clearing up) and would wear masks if necessary.
  • We will cancel the event (at short notice if necessary) if symptoms of illness occur on our part, if events of this kind are prohibited by the authorities, or if in our opinion the event is no longer appropriate due to the development of the corona situation.
  • The payment is made by payment slip
  • We assume that the guests are aware of the relevant quarantine and hygiene recommendations of the Swiss Confederation and the Canton of Basel-Stadt and that they comply with them. (www.coronavirus.bs.ch/)
