GERMAN TEXT AFTER THE ENGLISH VERSION

HD Läppli used to complete the proverbe of the old testament “Man does not live by bread alone” with “but also by the Znüni” (Znüni = Swiss German term for light mid morning snack)”. In this sense, we all like to look for some distraction after we have completed our chores. I for example would then like to read something that is either funny or thought-provoking or is about a topic that interests me. Ideally all together.

My grandparents read magazines like the “Schweizerische Unterhaltungsblätter”, “In freien Stunden” or “Das Leben im Bild” for distraction. They had the editions of their wedding year 1925 bound as a book and I read them occasionally and these articles come pretty close to the above mentionned ideal.

These days we have social media instead of such magazines. Recently I however noticed that I best summarize my social media experiences with “fff”. This acronym doesn’t stand for forte fortissimo but for “false facebook friends”. Funny contributions about interesting topics or thought provoking ideas were as thinly spread in my timeline as the sliced truffles in a risotto served in a Swiss restaurant.

I abandonded facebook and discovered Twitter as an alternative. I had been of the mistaken opinion that this tool was only used by loudspeakers like the orange headed POTUS to spread propaganda. However if you follow more interesting fellows like the ex Top Gear presenter Jeremy Clarkson (“I am a still small voice of calm and reason”), the comedian Victor Giacobbo, the news satire of the “ZDF heute-show” or the “Twitterperlen”, you get an entertaining timeline, especially if you supplement it with the coverage of the “Neue Zürcher Zeitung”, background stories from “Zeit online” and professional articles from “Decanter”, “Yoga Journal” and “Rolling Stone”.

Consequently the Sundaykitchen couldnt any longer stay absent in this colourful cosmos and we are now also present on Twitter under @sundaykitchenCH (https://twitter.com/sundaykitchenCH for those who don’t have a Twitter account). At the moment Susann and Adrian are the only followers, so we still have some potential to grow 😉

According to the motto “where there is song, you can safely stay…” we extended the theme of the Sundaykitchen to music and added a section “music blogs”. Consequently I dug in my music archive and put together a spotify playlist with the 5 best songs of each of my 70 rock gods:

AC/DC, Bryan Adams, Art Of Noise, Die Ärzte, Asia, BAP, Barclay James Harvest, The Beatles, Blue Öyster Cult, David Bowie, The Clash, Coldplay, Elvis Costello, Erste Allgemeine Verunsicherung, The Damned, Deep Purple, Dire Straits, The Doors, Bob Dylan, Stephan Eicher, Farin Urlaub Racing Team, Flash & the Pan, Frankie goes to Hollywood, Peter Gabriel, Genesis, Green Day, Herbert Grönemeyer, Jimi Hendrix, The Hooters, Indochine, INXS, Joe Jackson, The Jesus and Mary Jane, Janis Joplin, The Killers, Kraftwerk, Lenny Kravitz Led Zeppelin, Lunik, Manfred Mann’s Earth Band, Marillion, Bob Marley, Midnight Oil, Morrissey, Muse, New Model Army, Nits, Mike Oldfield, Orchestral Manoeuvres In The Dark, Pink Floyd, The Pogues, The Police, Queen, Red Hot Chili Peppers, R.E.M., The Rolling Stones, Santana, Simon & Garfunkel, Paul Simon, Simple Minds, Sina, The Smiths, Bruce Springsteen, Supertramp, Die Toten Hosen, U2, Uriah Heep, The Who, Yello. More details in the blog.

Last but not least we finally managed to upload some recipes for Christmas cookies and festive menus – sorry for the delay, but remember: in 349 days it’s Christmas Eve again!

We hope you like our new initiatives and look forward to stay in touch! All the best Susann and Adrian

AC/DC, Bryan Adams, Art Of Noise, Die Ärzte, Asia, BAP, Barclay James Harvest, The Beatles, Blue Öyster Cult, David Bowie, The Clash, Coldplay, Elvis Costello, Erste Allgemeine Verunsicherung, The Damned, Deep Purple, Dire Straits, The Doors, Bob Dylan, Stephan Eicher, Farin Urlaub Racing Team, Flash & the Pan, Frankie goes to Hollywood, Peter Gabriel, Genesis, Green Day, Herbert Grönemeyer, Jimi Hendrix, The Hooters, Indochine, INXS, Joe Jackson, The Jesus and Mary Jane, Janis Joplin, The Killers, Kraftwerk, Lenny Kravitz Led Zeppelin, Lunik, Manfred Mann’s Earth Band, Marillion, Bob Marley, Midnight Oil, Morrissey, Muse, New Model Army, Nits, Mike Oldfield, Orchestral Manoeuvres In The Dark, Pink Floyd, The Pogues, The Police, Queen, Red Hot Chili Peppers, R.E.M., The Rolling Stones, Santana, Simon & Garfunkel, Paul Simon, Simple Minds, Sina, The Smiths, Bruce Springsteen, Supertramp, Die Toten Hosen,  U2, Uriah Heep, The Who, Yello.
